Dutch Sailing Federation: race management support
Supporting sailing clubs to enhance their race management policy, to secure the quality of racing in the Netherlands and above all, that everyone involved is having fun in taking part of an event or event organisation.
The project was part of a national program of the NOC*NSF. Fettje was first responsible to define how that project called ‘a safe sporting environment’ could be translated to the sport of sailing. Several clubs where visited to see how they run their programs concerning youth sailing and race management and officials got trained to become a coaches for officials.
A project plan was draw and clubs could enrol in the program: getting the board, members, sailors and officials lined up for the future of racing at their club, starting with a strategic plan. After one year the project had to be embedded into the normal organisational structure and was handed over to the club coordinators.
Fettje stayed for 6 more months to help out the service department for the back-office of the championships and educational programs of the federation.
Project period: May 2013 – November 2014
